The library of any educational institution is a treasure house of knowledge. Vidyanagar College Library is considered the heart of the institution. The library of the college started its journey in the year 1963 with few books and very few specifications. With time the number of books and other specifications increased. With the dedication of our librarians, at present the library has more than 28,000 of books, 14 computers, two printing machines, internet facilities for reading e-books/e-journals, and many more. At present the library has three spacious halls covering 288 sq.mt area approx. (Including Reading Room, Reference Section, Text Book Section, and Digital Library). Library houses more than 28,000 books at present and the number increases every year. It covers many broader areas of different subjects and contains a collection of modern subjects such as Computers and Information, Human Values and Professional Ethics, Rare books, and Competitive books, etc.

The motto of our library is to provide books to every reader of this college; The library lends two books semester wise to the students having honours in different subjects on a fortnightly basis. For students pursuing General Courses, one book per student can be borrowed on a fortnightly basis.

The library provides a spacious reading room for periodicals, newspapers, magazines, journals. Interested readers can refer to the old volumes also. Library provides a separate reference section for boys, girls and staff. It covers reference books on all subjects,rare books and books for competitive examinations. Library provides previous question papers to the students and staff of the college. Question papers of University and college level examinations are preserved in the library. Our library is completely automated with the Library Management Open Source Software Koha Version 3.14.06.000 (2015). OPAC (Open Public Access Catalogue) is available for students and staff. Digital Library facilities are available with high speed internet access including LAN connection for the benefit of students. Details of the Library can be obtained through the website www.vidyanagarcollege.net. The library aims at enrichment of the library by catering to the requirement of the undergraduate courses. The library also plans to give more orientation to the users on utilization of Digital Library. The library also plans to start Institutional Repository in various subjects. It aims to enable the students for a good future through career guidance services and tries to improve the students’ participation in library activity.
